ABOUT EVILBOB'S MINIATURE PAINTING

My name is Bob Chicka. I first started painting miniatures in 1989. I painted a few fantasy miniatures for D&D. It was slow at first, but by the mid nineties things had picked up and I was painting quite a few fantasy miniatures each week. Next, we started playing Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, and other Games Workshop games from the time, such as Gorka Morka and Necromunda. Buy 2000, we had gotten into Command Decision and Beer and Pretzels Skirmish, both set in World War II.

As I mentioned before, I’ve played D&D, most of the Games Workshop games, and several historical games. I paint miniatures for games, to a high wargaming table standard. I wouldn’t paint a fig that I wouldn’t use on the table. Highlighting and shading bring out the detail of the miniatures, including those not in the front rank! Eyes are usually done, unless they can’t really be seen. I can paint to a display quality, but I generally charge double the rate for such high detail. In my humble opinion, such detail is not really necessary on the gaming table. All miniatures are clear coated, then coated with a flat clear coat as well, so they are well protected and meant to be handled.

Why the name Evil Bob? Well, that’s my nickname from the fencing club from Ligonier I belong to, another of my hobbies. It seems that I sometimes appear imposing or intimidating to some people, hence, the nickname. It just seemed to fit for the painting business. After all, you may lose the game but at least you can come back with, “Yeah, but MY miniatures were painted by Evil Bob!”

Despite being a full time high school English teacher, my fiancee, Allison, also does some of the painting. In fact, she does most of the terrain. I'd like to thank her for her help and support in helping me start this business.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank Norm Flam, of www.toysoldiergallery.us for all the help he's giving me in getting Evil Bob's Miniature Painting started too. He and his wife Robbie also feature finely hand painted miniatures. Be sure to stop by their website, or their booth at the show, and check out their work.

If you have any comments or questions about anything you see, or don’t see, on the site, drop me an email at bob@evilbobs.biz, or give me a call at 570-374-1496. I’d love to hear from you.
